| It
is known that the expenses for performing proteomics are high. This
is also the case for profiling experiments, as it requires several
ProteinChip arrays and skilled expertise. The costs not only depend
on the materials but also largely depend on the service required.
In general all liquid handling procedures have to be performed by
the researcher. The operator is involved in the analysis of the chip
and the first evaluation of the results. For proper statistical analysis
further expertise is required. |

| Expression
Difference Mapping SELDI-TOF experiments reuires two different stages.
The first part deals with searching the most optimal binding conditions
for profiling. The researcher can decide with conditions have to be
tested. The experiments should be performed with some test samples.
The second part is to test the whole study population with the optimal
binding condition(s). |
| |
| For
performing Interaction Difference Mapping SELDI-TOF the "Bait"
molecules have to coupled covalently to the preactivated chip. Several
preactivated chips are currently available and it should be tested
which preactivated chip allows the best coupling. The second part
is similar to the one described above in the EDM SELDI-TOF approach.
|
| |
| In
general the most expensive part of the analysis is the exploring part
defing the most optimal binding conditions (part 1). Once the optimal
conditions have been established the whole study population can be
analysed in a routine fashion. |
